MY SOUL WAITS FOR THE LORD

I cry out to my God
from the depths of the sea:
Hear my voice, Lord,
and show me your grace.
By your power, from sorrow and sin
set me free,
For my heart longs to look on your face.

CHORUS:
My soul waits for the Lord—
and his promise is strong—
My soul waits more than nightwatchmen
wait for the dawn.
Israel, hope in the One
to whom mercy belongs,
For he surely will come again
to redeem us from all our sins.

If you counted our sins,
Holy God, who could stand?
Is there one who would dare to draw near?
But you freely forgive
by the blood of the Lamb,
And we fall down in wonder and fear!
CHORUS

Israel, hope in the One
to whom mercy belongs,
For he surely will come again
to redeem us from all our sins.
